Pay
- Lead Ice Cream Maker $20-$28 DOE
- Kitchen Assistant $16-$24 hr. DOE
- Season Completion Bonus 10% of pay from June 1-September 30th. Must complete contract.
Little Truckee Ice Creamery in Truckee, CA is looking for an ice cream maker to join our team to help create the regions finest small batch ice cream.
Lead Ice Cream Maker
The lead ice cream maker is responsible for a majority of the ice cream production with support from the owner as well as part time Kitchen Assistants. 35-40 Hours per week from May-September. Training and part time work is available immediately.
Responsibilities
- Ice Cream production
- Baking (We make our own ice cream inclusions
- Inventory tracking and Shopping List Upkeep
- Recipe development
- Kitchen organization and cleaning
- Communication with the owner, other kitchen and service staff
- Proper food labeling
- Quality Control Monitoring
- Meet Production Demand
Qualifications
- Organized and Self Motivated
- Serve Safe Certification (food handler card)
- Baking and Kitchen Experience
- Commitment to complete busy season shifts through September
- Personal Transportation (very limited public transportation available to our location)
Ice Cream Makers must plan their production days in advance. Usually one day will be a prep day and the next day will be a production day. Prep days involve macerating fruit, baking brownies, cookies, making caramel, steeping ice cream base with flavors and more. Clean-up is required during and at the end of each shift. Ice Cream production relies on proper advance prep. Again, clean-up is required during and after production.
Kitchen Assistant (part time or full time seasonal)
We will also be hiring 2 kitchen assistants to help prepare ingredients, bake and clean. Commercial Kitchen Experience preferred, but training is available. While there is some flexibility in hours, consistency and reliability are crucial to the teams success.
Responsibilities
- Communication with lead Ice Cream Maker
- Ingredient Knowledge, Preparation, Accurate Measuring, Organizing and Inventory
- Food prep requires chopping, boiling, frying and baking
- Complete the Prep Item List needed by Lead Ice Cream Maker
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized
- Help Ice cream Maker Fill and Label Pints

Our kitchen is fully stocked with baking and ice cream production equipment and is attached to a fun retail space for selling ice cream, baked goods and coffee drinks to the public. We strive to encourage creativity and to support our staffs success. Benefits for the kitchen staff include some flexibility in work days and hours as long as production levels are met. Ice cream production is a demanding job during busy summer months. The off season months will offer a more relaxed pace and a time to explore new flavor development.
